FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Exotic animals: rabbits, rodents and reptiles

Which exotic pet is easiest to start with?

A guinea pig or a dwarf rabbit are the most forgiving for a family: they are awake during the day and tolerate handling. A hamster is easier to keep but it is nocturnal and does not like being picked up.

What does a dwarf rabbit eat?

Fresh hay at all times is 80 % of its diet, plus a measured portion of pellets and a little leafy green. Fruit is an occasional treat: too much sugar upsets its digestion.

Do turtles need a lamp?

Yes. Aquatic turtles need UVB light and a warm area so they can dry out and make their shell hard. Without it they end up with weak bones and shell problems.
